what "first" ad unit pays VS second ad unit

Put ad unit with better CTR first in my code?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if a person has more than one ad unit on a page, the first one to show up in the code tends to be the one with the highest paying ads.

If this is true, then I am wondering if it is true for a page that uses one ad unit and one link unit.

I ask because while the ad unit shows up in my code first, the link unit has the better CTR. If all of the above is indeed true, would I end up earning more if I made the link unit show up in my code before the ad unit... since it is the link unit that has the better CTR of the two?

Thanks in advance.

end up earning more if I made the link unit show up in my code before the ad unit.

don't think it works this way for link units.

now to location, which is the most critical factor for a LU:

maybe the link unit is getting better CTR because of its location.

If your EPC for link units is better than ad units, then place it where it gets the highest CTR

Experiment for a couple of weeks with poitions and see what comes up.

I think the key question was where to put the ad unit and link unit code. The code can be independently placed on the HTML source page, while the ads themselves may also be placed anywhere.

I have no answer for the original post but could add to the question.

To assure the best targeting on my site(s) I have located all code immediately after the most important content. I've tried to keep the code as far away from navagation links, copyright notices, etc. I then use DIVS to locate the ads where I want them to display. I've wrapped Google Ad sections around the most important content and the adsense code immediately follows this block. I believe this has help targeting a little, but, CPC who knows.

Some questions:

Suppose I have 3 adunits on a page. I purposely reverse the order of display of the Ad units, versus the order in which the code appears on the page. What happens? Adsense should be able to determine about where the Ad units are so perhaps nothing, but perhaps somebody has played with this.
