I am trying to put an adsense for search on my page but my background is an image so i cant use the background color feature. Is there a way to make the background transparent?

I figured out one way to do it, in the code replace <table bgcolor="ffffff"> with just a <table>

...but would that be considered modifying the code? would that be against TOS to change that?

Yes it would be against TOS but whether Google cares I have no idea.

They're all for blending in ads so I don't see why you can't blend in the searchbox too by giving it a transparant background.

You cannot change the code Google provides. Check with them before doing anything, but they will most likely say no.

They probably only offer a handful of colors because their logo has to be antialiased to match the background. It will look terrible against different colors or against an image background.

You can customise the background colour under "Manage style palettes...", can't you get one anywhere near which approximates your background?

no because the style pallets only affects the searchresults page.

I dont see a big deal with taking the color off from the table background in the code.

We didn't say it's a big deal. That would be a subjective judgment. We said it's against the TOS.

It's so long ago I did mine I cannot remember HOWEVER(!) my search page background colour is specific for my site, it matches the rest of the page where it is placed.

Am I missing something here?

My results page is the default with my logo.

Heck...you need to be having a serious amount of search visitors to be worried about this!

I'm not saying I'm correct...very surprised.
