Have been looking at some banks for to collect the money from the check. In spain it can take 3-6 months to recieve the money from the check.
Are there some adsense users from Spain who know a faster way to collect the check.

I also am in the UK and have an HSBC account I pay Google Adsense foreign currency cheques into.

Despite the fact that the cheques are cleared the day you pay them in HSBC have a sliding scale of charges for paying in a foreign currency cheque. The reason you get paid straight away is because of the charges. From what I remember it's something like this:-

Non-sterling, non-euro cheques

Sterling Equivalent

Up to £50 £4 per cheque
£51-£200 £6 per cheque
£201-£500 £8 per cheque
£501-£5,000 £14 per cheque
£5,001-£10,000 £20 per cheque
£10,001+ £30 per cheque

The charges of course are slightly different if they are for collection (eg you get paid when they clear) rather than negotiation (you get paid when you pay it in).

@Monus -

I use to get my checks at BBVA in about 2 weeks, but that was 2 years ago, now that they know me (well.. that and my threats of moving to another bank) convinced them to speed up the process

@Mipapage

That and the exchange rate is horrible!

Don't you feel like you're being robbed? I know I do :(

Using Solbank, they clear in 3-5 weeks. Sigh.

But the big question remains, which is why on earth is Google using cheques?

A company that lives from the net is not using the net to pay? If Google can take my money online, why can't they pay me online? Seems odd...

Wow! I'm using Bank of New Zealand and it clears the cheques in three days. No charges for the deposit in USD either. I've heard of something about the National Bank NZ (which used to be a Loyds Bank subsidiary) waiting twenty days to clear.

But this is nowhere near six months as you say it is in Spain.

@freitasm: I have found a bank who does it in 1 month. La Caixa. I can live with that.

I'm in Spain and a few years ago I had big problems (and fees) from a well known offshore bank, Cater Allen, transfering pesetas to sterling, they had no idea how to do it. Yes, pounds to pesetas they could sort but not the other way round. It seems they had no 'arrangements' and had to use a third party! I got a refund after complaining but had to unravel the whole thing for them (idiots, actually - LOL). I actually had a similar problem 16 years ago with Lloyds Offshore, who also had little idea and less intelligent public relations at the time.
Check to see what arrangements the bank has for transfer and exchange of the currency in question (dollars).
Maybe contact the issuing bank and ask for their recommendation. They may know who has the best arrangements for currency transfers.
I doubt BBVA would be an ideal choice, much words and little action in my view. Try one of the old established banks. Where I am I would check Deutsche(?) Bank, Bank of Valencia or even CAM (very helpful and fully international) but then, where I live there are many foreigners (giris :) )!
I believe it to be an individual bank problem and not so much country oriented.

I use SolBank, 2-4 weeks , but seems to be getting quicker though as the checks are regular and the numbers are getting higher.

Not quite, as mentioned above, with HSBC you get the same charges if you choose to deposit your cheque for collection or for negotiation. For collection it takes 6 weeks to clear, and negotiation it goes in immediately (on trust that it clears).

They will negotiate cheques if you have a history of doing it with no problems....
