Just Wiped My Competitive Ad Filter

Just like David_UK and other WW-members, I just whiped my ad filter clean. It did this because my ECPM and earnings have dropped to about 50% in january, and they never really recovered. So I am starting to wonder if I maybe blocked ads that werenīt so bad after all. Of course, many if you will blame smartpricing for my drop in earnings, and perhaps you are right. But I felt it was time to do this experiment, who knows what will happen.
I donīt make that much cash with Adsense so there is not much to loose I guess...

Interesting you mentioned that. Two weeks back when I was on 7th sky for reaching $100/day - I decided to filter all MFA type of sites and three days later my earnings dropped to my regular $30-$40 - Maybe it has nothing to do with that as I was making the same amount even before.

So after two weeks and seeing no improvement in earnings - Yesterday I removed all sites from my filter - and boom my earnings are already 26$ today and its not even noon here.

Who knows maybe I blocked the wrong type of sites but I dont think so because I used to adsense preview tool - visited each site and then decided whether to block it or not. But like I Said - maybe its not even connected?

DON'T EVER block ads on the basis of what shows in the tool! Google says that the ads shown are SAMPLE ads, and many of them may never have appeared on your site both now and in the future. Also, the tool will show ads you have blocked. In addition, you often see ads on the page that never show in the tool!

Use the tool to check the landing page of ads you physically can see showing on your page, but don't ever rely on it to tell you what ads are showing in any country - not even the one you are living in!

Strange because I have NEVER seen one I blocked appear again? In over a year with a very full filter. And I only ever use the tool for canada uk and us to block all the gargage sites?

Incidentally my ecpm has gone from average 17.5 up to max 19.5 up to 25 dollars plus for the last two days! After deleting my old 200 blocked URLs and using the tool to block any site I can find that isnt actually selling anything! And its almost full again!

But I changed nothing and mine look crap too! So you may need to wait until it stabilises and really give it a chance! I suspect its a slow weekend. Traffics def down today on my sites.

How many clicks do you get per day? Because you need 4 to 9 hundred average to see any real trend over a day or so?

So after 5 days I can tell you this:
The good news is... I guess from here it can't get any worse! My earnings our now at about 10% of my december average. I am back at the level that I wonder if this will pay for my webhosting. I guess there are some interesting challenges ahead for me...
