which seems very useful, but was wondering if anyone had a take on the security aspects?
You can spoof an IP address and receive a reply if you have access to a router in the packets' path. While not as many people have this kind of access, one should never assume it can't happen.
Which given that this security hole would even then only allow access to private forums, and not leave a forum vulnerable, does not seem to bad a risk.
