$50 per click only with 2 ads on keyword?

Is it possible?

Hi all

I just found a keyword which is around $50 but the number of ads appearing for it (in US) are only 2. Is it possible that such a keyword will give me a good payout? Isnt it wise to select keywords with more number of ads appearing for it?

Cause if only 2 advertisers are there, Google will try to fill the ad space with ads of other keywords, thereby diluting the effect of the top paying keyword.
The bottomline question is, will it be profitable to target such a keyword with so less number of ads?

Thanks

If there are only 2 ads competing for the keyword, how can it reach $50?

Depends on the long term. There are 2 advertisers now, but how about in the long run? If you build your page now, get included on SERPs, maybe ranking high, when (or if) new advertisers come, you will be already stablished.

On the other hand, if it's a niche/industry that can't have more than two or three advertisers, I would just make a test. Build a small webpage with the right keyword factor, put it online, and load a couple times with your browser. If AdSense serves the 50 bucks ad, go for it.

If it doesn't, put this new page under a website that you own and check it every other day. See if AdSense now knows what to do. But if you start to get search engine traffic, then you know there's demand, and expand the content.

Also, consider why these two advertisers are the only ones. Perhaps other market players tried AdWords and didn't like, and these two can reach the same conclusion.

So:

- Long term goals, will there be advertisers in 3 months?
- Does AdSense serve the correct ads?
- Is it worth to build a site now and profit a lot later?
- Is there demand for this content?

Google Adwords system inflates the value of many many keywords like that.

Cant wait that long. :-)
Well, its neither a niche or a "in demand" keyword. Its just a High CPC keyword but with only 2 advertisers.

This keyword belong to a highly competitive industry. While the other keywords in the family have comparitively low CPC and many many advertisers too. Just this one has higher CPC but almost no advertisers.

What I fear about is, if I will target a webpage with this keyword and bring traffic on it, Google with its intentions to just FILL the Ad BLOCKS will fill it up with ads of LOW PAYING KEYWORD.

So, is it worth targeting this keyword? Or should I just concentrate over the keywords that have a proven track record?

Question still stands : Is it good to target keywords with less or almost no advertisers bidding on it?

How much low Ricky_G? Google serves related ads. A site about "used widgets", if it doesn't have targetted ads, will probably get ads about "widgets".

You might build a site for the 50 bucks ads, get it sometimes, and the other times get the low paying ads. But how low? If we're talking about 1 cent ads, forget it. But if it's 2+, go for it, who cares if Google is filling with direct related ad? Sometimes the not-so-direct advertisement is still interesting to your visitors.

This kind of advice is really hard to give without knowing what the keywords are or what the industry is, damn TOS :p

Main website I am building about is : "Insurance and Insurance claims"

Insurance is a pretty healty industry, and the keyword in question is : Motorcycle Accident claim

Morotcycle Accident Claim :
CPC : $42
Clicks : 0.01 per day (its clicks per month are low too)
Advertisers : 10 only (while others in its family dont have advertisers less than 200 - 300)
Traffic : 429/months (from overture)
Competitors : 1370 webpages (google)

Now, this is a keyword with CPC as high as $42 but very low number of advertisers. When compared with Insurance industry, number of advertisers dont go below 200 or 300

So, should I ignore such keywords and try to focus on other keyword with proven track record? or what?

Thanks again

Are we gonna takes bets now on how many people will now set up a site/page(s) on "Motorcycle Accident claim"? :-)

Yeah Ricky_G, I even mentioned the TOS because you shouldn't be specific about these things ;)

My advice: Edit your post, and go for it :)

Trust me nobody will pay you more than a dollar unless you are well established and genuine.

Ricky_G, if one click is $42 but you only get 0.01 click per day, that would be $0.42 a day. Why would you want to waste your time on that?

If there are only 2 advertisers, and they both have opted out of the content network, you won't make much.
