I've sat back and waited all week before posting this being one who ascribed to 21_blue's Golden Gate scenario [webmasterworld.com...]

My average EPC from March 1st to 11th was precisely the same as February however from March 12th unitl 16th I have had four consecutive days at 15% less.

Hardly any variation whatsover, not a gentle decline, across the board 15% less for the four days.

This is very frustrating considering Impressions and Clicks are both up, in fact two record click days of which one earned only a couple of Dollars more than last Sunday and the other was less!

Is it, perchance, that March is actually a very long advertising month of four and a half weeks and budgets are being stretched?

Has anyone else seen such a decline in EPC this week?

There is no panic since the overall earnings average actually remains the same however surely I'm not the only one?

yes, average end of day eCPM for Feb was $37 ish

Average for March so far $30 ish and dropping

in a normal month (although there never is one) average is late 30's early 40's at the end of the day.

My average eCPM has been down 14.7% in the last four days, compared to the first 13 days of the month, and my March eCPM (month to date) is is down 10% from February.

On the other hand, the first half of March, 2006 is running 7% ahead of the same period in 2005.

On the EPC front, I'm seeing almost exactly the same numbers from the last four days as from the earlier part of the month (EPC is actually up a fraction of a cent). EPC for the first half of the month is about 4% ahead of March MTD last year and is up just a twitch from February, 2006.

The period from March 10-15 was real good (20% above normal). Then yesterday and today, the eCPM is back to normal for the month.

As if to prove that these things are ALWAYS all over the map for different sectors, March is down a bit for me from February but remarkably consistent daily adjusted for weekend fluctuations. My prior year figures are irrelevant because I've been very busy making changes over these last twelve months.

Today appears spectacular so far, but mornings have always been much too optimistic.

I know some (senior members) will say what's-the-point-of-telling-my-ecpm-is-down-the-drain.
However, my ecpm is down the drain since about a week. I had a bit of a recovery until march 10, but after that ecpm dropped every day and is now 50% below average. I guess G is indeed pushing the bucket again. Note that I have only 1000-2000 page impressions, so my numbers are not very good for comparison...

It seems to be all over the place this week. I'm getting a 30% variation from day to day.

I too had a fantastic traffic day a few days ago but it made less money than a lower high paying day a couple of days later.

Since CTR also varies I'm wondering if sometimes I'm just getting better ads than others. Ads with more appeal to my visitors. But then other times the payment per click seems to vary a lot.

I can't see that there is anything we can do about this.

My traffic is up this month; however my eCPM is down also about 15%. Earnings seem to be equivalent to last month which leads me to believe that the new traffic is actually targeted by the lower paying ads and driving the eCPM down.
