What are some of the funniest off-target ads you have seen on your website?

My site's subject is christianity.

Just saw an ad for FREE TAROT READINGS!

Oh yeah, that's gonna get some click throughs :~(

Sometimes using Adsense is just down right embarrassing...

I have a Christian page on my site (graphics) and one day it said "Learn Voodoo Magic"

I think that is about equal.

A lot depends on what keywords the Voodoo and Tarot sites are targeting.

I have several pages about politics and the unemployment situation.

I have to fill up my URL filter with all the MLM ads appearing on this pages.

This is even more embarrassing!

Actually they are right on target in a quasi-metaphysical sort of way. Different derivatives of belief in a concept of the "otherworldly".

If anytime I was tempted to click my own ad (must have been the Devil, he gets around he's even on the web) that was it! But my left hand knocked my right off the mouse just in the nick of time.

Absolutely. I would aim my ads at people who have some belief system and hope to catch them at a weak moment.

Sort of the putting the Buger King across from the McDonalds concept.

That is pretty rough MLM ads on the page with unemployment content. You should put an Adsense button on that page, just kidding.

I hope they aren't targeting christian keywords because they would be wasting their time. Very few people would click on a "free tarot reading" ad who are visiting a christian website, if any.

That's like advertising ice cream on a lactose intolerant site. Duh, what is the point!

You underestimate the human condition.

It is like the guy who made the million dollars in 3 months using the power of FREE. I also use FREE it is like envoking the dark side of the Force, just as powerful if you know how to use it. If you can't use a frontal attack go for the soft underbelly.

;~) I got you. Trust me, I am the bargain queen. I love a sale (what woman doesn't) and FREE is even better (samples are my best friend).

But you underestimate, TRUE Christianity.

Off to bed now. Even though tomorrow is Friday...well umm, today. I still need my rest for work.

Nice chatting with you all.

Good day.

I have a website for science fiction and fantasy fans ... the keywords "witchcraft" and "witch" routinely trigger "Jesus Saves" types ads. The ads are banned when I see them because the readers tend to notice them and complain.

I can understand that. Somethings just arent' applicable to your content and your readers if they don't understand Adsense, which most don't, will assume you have gone off your rockers!

BTW, I used to love reading DragonLance books, my favorite characters were Raistlin and Cameron.

I have a guitar website and some "Used Jet Airplane" ads showed up one day. They got a lot of attention in the forum, too. It wasn't my favorite.

Just for fun and adventure here are the keywords on my Christian page now.

jesus, god, devil, christian, heaven, voodoo, tarot

The content is graphics downloads and not too many words so the keywords drive most of the ad performance. It will be interesting to see what happens.
