No. You probably banned the wrong adress?

Often they are aff. links, so what looks like ebay for example is really another address. Then they redirect to ebay.

The adsense preview tool will show the correct url. Scrap the www. and the bit in front of the dot. and everything after the forward slash!

You only need widget.xyz

If I mouseover the ad (of course without clicking) and see the exact url below on the browser, is that the correct URL to filter? If so, I was already filtering it. I know this because I unknowingly entered it a second time and got the red warning telling me that it was already in there.

How long ago have you filtered it?

That's the display URL. You can get the link by rightclicking on the ad and copy the URL or you can use the AdSense Preview tool: [google.com...]

Every once in a while filtered ads show up on my pages and then disappear again.

More specifically: To get the ad url you can CAREFULLY right-click on the Title portion on the ad, and then select "Properties". Look for "adurl=".

Remember, it takes a few hours for G to catch up with changes you make to your list.

To answer martinibuster, I filtered the ad a couple of weeks ago and it showed up again.

Mars: Did you check the url again? It's very common for advertisers who you've filtered to change their url slightly and come back again.

Adsense help says: "Entering example.com will also block ads to www.example.com and forums.example.com"

I thought I'd got it right when I blocked example.org so I wouldn't see ads from www.example.org either.

I blocked a particular example.org months ago, yet just noticed their ad showing on one of my sites today with the www's attached. Did I do something wrong?

ps: I completely missed this thread, so thanks, Martini, for deleting the thread I started about same topic! ;)

malachite: are you going by the hover-over display url, or are you checking the actual url using the methods described above? It's possible they used to be something like badadvertiser.com and they came back as badadvertiser.net, but they are still showing the same display url as before, so the ad looks the same...

fredw, no, it's the very same site - it's actually a very reputable and worthy US organisation not an MFA or anything, the only reason I filtered it at all was it's just not remotely relevant to my site which anyway, is UK centric.

But I was surprised to see it back again - perhaps a glitch over at the 'plex?

I had the same problem
[webmasterworld.com...]

I managed to get response from Google.
They basically asked me the following:
>exact URL on
> which you use the preview tool to see these ads, >and the geotarget you
> specify in the preview tool.
> A screenshot would also be very helpful if
> you would be able to provide this.

Unfortunately at the time when Google responded I had already add WW*.example.com filters. So I had no the screenshots. I tried do delete WW*.example.com from the filter leaving only example.com but the sites have not returned. So I could not show the screenshots and it seems that the reason of the problem is still unclear.

I suggest that you try to contact Google addsence support answering the question above and telling that you have the screenshots. If they will not answer you, you may stick me email and I will resend your email to the Google person who investigated my case.

Vadim.

Takes about 4 hours to start working and use just the domain name like "ebay.com" and not "www.ebay.com" or "ebay.com/landingarea.html" or anything like that and you'll zap them all. The reason I say this is some slimeball was using "blah.domain.com", "moreblah.domain.com" to bypass blocking the specifics but zapping just "domain.com" got rid of him for good.

As for me I used domain.com.

So it seems either Google glitch or it actually takes several days and not four hours.

At least it may be true for the addsense beginners (who recently joined addsence).

IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN THIS MORNING!
Just about ALL of the ads on my site are of URLs that are in my competitive ad filter.

Is anyone else experiencing this today?

And, to respectfully answer some of the threads here, I have been with Adsense for over 2 years, and I have been vigorously using the filter to get rid of MFAs and other crap that I don't want on my site. This is a very recent event, and I wonder if it's a glitch with Google.
