Included?

If I use <!-- google_ad_section_start --> after my meta tags will the information in the meta tags still be used for targeting. I would like targeting to include the meta tags. Can I place <!-- google_ad_section_start --> between <html> and <head>. Or is it that targeting is not associated at all with meta tags?

Did you read the documentation at AdSense? I vaguely remember reading that the targeting code should be placed in the body of the page, not the head.

Yes it does show it in the body. I have been using section targeting for sometime now but see the same results with or without. This is after the pages have been crawled. I was just wondering if the targeting also has to do with meta title, description and keywords. I am sure there is enough content selected for section targeting but I just don't see any results.

I would like to here some feedback if possible if others have success with section targeting.

I had a good experience with section targeting. I actually divided my whole page (body part) into two categories, one with <!-- google_ad_section_start --> and the other <!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->. Not even a single tag or word on all the pages are outside these two parameters. I made sure that I exclude as much HTML as I can with ignore tags.

The ads gradually improved (the targeting was not bad before that, but became perfect after it) and CTR reflected a rise of 15-20% which is still stable.

My advice is to spend some time in studying your page and then split your page elements into black (ignore tags) and white (targeted parts). I can say that it is a powerful tool to improve the performance of ads.

Thanks Stardoc. I will try the ignore tags as well.
