Humble beginnings warned a user in an earlier post that he would be careful logging into his adsense account at work or school

Is this because genuine users may click adds at work or school and it will look like the clicks are coming the user that logged in, or is thre another reason

just curious

many thanks

You login into Your AsSense account

Another person logs in and clicks some ads.

But for Google, it's the same computer.

Indeed, so without you knowing it, someone could click ads on your website(s), and Google might think you are doing it. Or, imagine that at work or school another person opens an Adsense account and does things against Adsense TOS. That person gets banned, but Google thinks you are associated with that person and bans you too. So there are risks, it is up to you to decide how real these risks are in your specific situation...

does it mean dont open your account form uni ... no idea .

Got it on one...don't do it, don't use any machine to access your account that may be used by ANYONE else.

You've been warned. Don't say you were not told.

I think no one in this forum can tell you for sure what Google means by this. The respons (BTW, it will probably be removed by the moderators) however looks the standard canned reply. So the reason why you don't understand it, is because it is no answer to your question. I don't know how far you are with the development of your website, and how much money you are making with it. But if it is possible for you to stop accessing your Adsense account from university, you might decrease the risk. Is there anyone else who has some experience with this?

Hey three years back when I was at my University - one of my friends had started a website and was all excited about making money through AS.

Since he did not know any other means of advertising that time - he advertised all through out the university by posting flyers in every bulletin board and notice boards in dorms etc.

Atleast 90% of his traffic was from the university I would think. He recieved his first AS check, then before the end of second month - he recieved the "Email" from G saying that his account was terminated due to fraudulent clicks. He tried reasoning with the G representatives that all his traffic is from the university but he did not have any luck getting reinstated.

I cannot vouch but i'm pretty sure that this guy did not do any fraudulent clicks himself - I'm assuming that since all the clicks came from either the university library or computer labs - it might have raised a suspicious flag for G to suspend his account.

Any thoughts?

"its not allowed to posts answer received by google?"

WW doesn't allow you to quote from e-mails that are not public information. This has got to do with privacy. If Google sends you a message, they did not intend that information to be posted in a public forum, it's between you and Google.
However, WW allows you to describe in your own words what was in that e-mail. So if you want to tell us about some message you got from Google, there is always a way...

I've logged in from various places while travelling but always logout and whack the cache and history so the next putz and the computer doesn't know where I've been.

just to be sure: I live in a student's dorm (about a thousand students, all computer geeks), and all the computers go out on the internet under the same IP, does this mean that I'm left out of the whole adsense phenomena, at least for now?

you can't rely on ip , same ip can be given to different person even google mention this .

so even if some fellow students have messed with adsense and got banned, I would still be safe as long as I log in from my own pc (and don't mess with adsense myself)

google adsense support dident give me any direct answer :) they just told me dont click on your ads ...

maybe you can email them and tell them that you live in the university ... and other students might have adsense account also ...

this is what i did ..

You guys are living very dangerously!

Just remember this, once you're banned, you're banned.

IBill's trick is fine when travelling, I do that very occasionally, but otherwise don't risk your account.

There's no fluttering of eyelids, no lifting of hems, no "I'm sorry sir I won't do it again", you're out, period.

About a year ago I e-mailed Google as I was in a similar situation. I have one website that was linked to as a handy resource on the Intranet of the company I worked for. (a large multinational).

All of the people there surf the net through a proxy, so I asked G if this was OK. The reply was basically that my account was in good standing at that they would monitor the situation.

Also, I spent about six months without an internet connection (no, not even dial up) and had to use an internet cafe to update my site and check my stats. One thing I did though was to use Portable Firefox (Firefox on a USB stick) to surf the net in these cafes. You take all of your history and cookies with you when you leave :)

Good idea, I'm trying to think if there is a downside to doing this?

Can't think of one right now, anyone else?

portable firefox is a great idea, it also protects you from spyware installed in the Internet Cafe.
The last thing I need when I log in to AS is spyware...
