Max number of ad units per page?

I'v ebeen using adsense for about one year, i've just used it to pay for my server costs, it's never been a 'make a living' thing!

As such, i'm a bit of a noob when it comes to ad positioning and the rules.

So, one simple question:

How many ad units can you put on a page? I vaguely remember that the answer is two but I may be wrong. I've currently got a max of two ad units on any page, can I have 3?
