Some people believe the myth of "cap" saying that the more traffic you get, the less you (are allowed to) earn. Yesterday, we had 450% increase in traffic (about 18,000 unique visitors in one day) when compared to the average of the last 4 months. I thought for the sake of these people I'd share what impact that traffic spike had on our AS stats.

Earnings: 7 times the average ($700 in one day)
Impressions: 4 times the average
CTR: Twice the average
eCPM: 3 times the average

Note that the figures are just approximate (heavily rounded).

The point is that one day is far from enough to bury "myths"

I expected this kind of reply. You perhaps believe that the cap is placed only after one day of increased traffic? Well, we have more evidence to be able to bury the myth. As I already wrote, our traffic doubled several months ago and remained at that level. Average daily earnings doubled too and today still are. There has been no decline. I guess that several months could be enough to convince even the most paranoid.

personally I don't think anyone caps you, since Google makes money only when you make money. My issue was with the one day spike

since Google makes money only when you make money.

The problem is that the cap believers also think that the more they earn, the more Google takes. So your argument isn't going to convince them. Therefore it's necessary to give them real world examples and 1st hand experience showing that there is no cap.

My issue was with the one day spike

What's the issue? Do you believe that the cap is placed only after one day of increased traffic? If you don't, then why do you think spikes can't be used to prove the non-existence of the cap?
