Is it OK to Float an AdLink Unit within Paragraph?

Ad placement question

I have seen many sites with rectangle ad units embedded in a page's main text. Ya know... to the left of the text but with the text sort of wrapped around it. I've seen this a lot, so I'm assuming this is perfectly fine.

My question is about doing this, but with a vertical link unit instead. I would then use CSS to position it to the left of the text.

Is this... okay?

I feel a little funny asking, because I got the idea for this type of placement from a site that was linked to in the official Adsense blog. They used the exact same CSS to position it, too.

But, I figured I'd double check it here just in case.

Thanks in advance.

Doesn't sound like it would be a big deal, but check with Adsense just to be on the safe side.

I do it all the time and see no reason why you shoudn't as well. If you experiment you will probably see some significant CTR increases.

It sounds like this would be OK. My recommendation is to implement the change on one page, then sticky mail the URL to me (or email adsense-support@google.com) so that an AdSense specialist can check it out.
