Using Special Code for Ad relevance ?

I am having the same problem again that I had a month or so ago with ad relevance on one page of my site (unfortunatly the index page). I have contacted support and see what they can offer this time.

On doing my own investigations, I found a site that uses the following code -

<script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_page_url = "#*$!xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.html";

//--></script>

Appartently, this tells Mediabot to go to page xxxxxx.html (100% text) to get the relevancy of the showing page (which may contain lots of "fluffy bits").

I have emailed support to see if a) this may sort my problems out and b) Can I use it or is it against TOS.

Anyone else know anything about this?

Hi

This is a feature used by sites in the optimization program (ie, the "premium" publishers) and propably won't work for you / isn't allowed.

This is the thing. It was taken from a site that is not (and the owner confirms it is not) a premium publisher site.

It is very similar to the frames tag but you can define the target instead.

Another thing which makes me think that mediabot is a bit lost today, if I run the Adsense preview tool on Googles own home page, I get 1 advert for "Virtual Credit Card"!

I have tried it on a few other sites and they are also showing crazy adverts.

I highly doubt it will work, as for premium publishers they need to active the features at Google's end. Basically right now it's doing absolutely nothing for you.

Thez,

I think you mis-understand. I'm not using it (I'm not that stupid), I was enquiring about it.

It's not a premium publisher thing. It for when you use adsense on framed pages.

As stated above, it isn't a premium only thing. If your site is using frames and you choose the option in your AS control panel while generating the code for your site, you get the same line added to your code.

The premium-only AND/OR permission-only thing is using that bit of code on a page which doesn't use frames.

Just to clarify, this line of HTML should ONLY be used for frames-based pages, and only after checking the framed pages checkbox within your account pages.

Please remember that our program policies prohibit modifications to the AdSense code.

Thanks for checking, though ;)
