Channels, Time of Click and CPC

Does having many channels help?

Now, since Adsense pays you as per your CTR, that is a high CTR means a higher pay for the same keyword (atleast this is what I have heard all the while), I have a couple of questions.

1) Now, does this mean that the amount you are paid for clicking on the same ad depend on the time of the day? for example, my adsense clock starts over for the new day at about 11 AM in the local time and since the number of impressions start to get counted from then on, a click on the first few clicks then would mean a CTR of almost 60-70%. Does that mean 11Am is my ideal time to get the maximum value for a click?

2) Does the CTR that Adsense takes into account that for the individual channel or the total impressions? Because, if it was per channel, then I would make a channel for every ad unit so that my CTRs remain at the peak.

It doesn't work either of the ways you assume. IF CTR is factored into Smart Pricing, and thus into your EPC, it isn't factored in on the fly. As you say, your CTR can be much higher earlier in the day than it ends up--that's just a statistical artifact. To reward you for an artificially high CTR would make no sense. Smart Pricing seems to adjust no more frequently than weekly--this obviously reduces the impact of short-term fluctuations.

Similarly, Smart Pricing, and indeed ANY aspect of AdSense, pays no attention to the channels you set up. Channels are just a tool for you, a way for you to organize your data. Google pays no attention to them. They look only at your account-wide statistics, and possibly at different sites, though no one seems to agree about that.

Thanks Underdown..Feel silly how I have completely misinformed myself all these days..And I am just frustrated with the Smart Pricing. They never let new Adsensers like me have fun ;)
