How Was Your Thursday 9th Feb?

1st Strong Run Of The Year Waning?

Yesterday was precisly 1 month from the start of my best-ever earnings with Adsense and yesterday I had:

My lowest clicks -20%
My lowest CTR -25.5%
My earnings +5.4%

The above are based on the averages from 1st Jan - 9th Feb 2006.

As you can see fortunately my EPC has increased therefore I still had a good day, if it hadn't increased it would easily have been my worst earnings day of the year except Jan 1st and 2nd, however it's curiously co-incidental that it should happen on the 9th.

I'm not reading anything into this at the moment, for newer members I am applying 21_blue's Golden Gate analysis:

[webmasterworld.com...]

Did anyone else see similar?

Incidentally I'm seeing no movement in my SERPs.

Please, no "Don't read too much into posts", I'm not doing, I'm on the ball with my analysis and like a little boy like to stand there and compare...notes:-))

This is all too subjective. Yesterday, February 9, has been my best Adsense day and I broke my record.

I don't really consider a few days or even a week the beginning or end of a trend as small speed bumps happen.

To be fair, OptiRex (who started this thread) made it clear that he wasn't reading too much into what he'd observed.

Yea, you want to talk seasonal - my main Adsense site only gets significant traffic two months out of the year, during which time it gets 20 to 30 thousand visits per day. The day after the "season" ends, it drops off to maybe 1 or 2 thousand visits, and within a month of that, maybe a few hundred. Then it's practically dead for another 10 months. This is the first year I'll have Adsense going for the full two busy months, so I'm curious as to how it pans out. Right now I'm just kinda paddling along at a few bucks a day (and somewhat surprised that I'm even getting THAT much in the off season, although moving the ads up the page last week definitely made a difference)

Is your site about Santa Claus?

Only Kiddin! :-)

My traffic yesterday was slightly slow, my earnings better than average.

If February weren't a short month it would be one of my best for earnings (assuming everything remains steady), with 28 days it will be just OK.

To be fair, I was only stating my opinion on what I consider a trend, not disputing the OP's statement ;)

Is your site about Santa Claus?

Not quite, but you're close - it is mostly holiday related. Just a different holiday.

Per usual... No sooner than I voice a concern, and it seems that things return to "normal"... Clickthrough Rate climbing back to normal range, and eCPM actually seems to be higher...

All in all... just what most of us expect. Google stats constantly fluctuating in accordance to market variables... We just get a tad nervous when the stats seem a little more out-of-whack than "normal" patterns that we stare at daily...

But I sure hope my eCPM remains at this higher rate!

You may not have seen it, but this was the point of my "seaweed" poem earlier in the week.

If you stand back from the beach and take a wider perspective, you can see the tide coming in and out.

But if you are seaweed on the beach, because you are right in the middle of it you take a different perspective. Sometimes the water is plentiful. Sometimes it dries up completely. And occasionally (at high or low tide) it seems to go to unusual extremes.

Adense income isn't as predictable as the tide, but this ebb and flow of income is still part of "normality" (and sadly it also means that your eCPM is unlikely to stay at high-tide levels).

That is the way of it, today has returned to middling poor, disappointing but within the accepted range of disappointing days.
Actually the last week has been my best week ever, despite the plunge yesterday :)

My worst day ever...
I was down 82%.. felt like 187% :(

I guess it can't get worse, so now there's only one way to go :D

adsense has had problems the past 3 days. I have seen all across teh internet sites with public service announcements. I have commented on my observations on other posts - - has anyone seen the same?

I had been languishing all month until yesterday the 9th, which was my best day of the month. That is until today which is even better than yesterday.

From one Extreme to another, we are getting hammered this month!

EPC, CTR, and eCPM all took a big jump today. Better ad targeting, maybe? I don't plan to think about it much: Daily ups and downs are part of the game, and all I really care about is the payment at the end of the month.

Pretty much normal compared to previous years. In fact the day was slightly above the average of the last 6 weeks (in both CTR and eCPM), but well within normal.

Yes the PSA's have been out in force. My logs for my psa pages = 156 uniques yesterday

The entire month of Jan my PSA pages came to a total of 120 Unique visitors.

Most of the people who have noticed the onflux of the PSA see them in the early morning hours. And since we all try to keep from viewing our own pages as much as possible were not seeing it in the extent it truely was.

I would have never have even noticed the problem and checked my logs if it were not for some of you guys on this forum.

Edit:Oh and no I have done NO updates in a week and a half so the PSA's were not showing because I had freshly REDID a page.

Yes, huge variations as usual, unable to say if it's a patern or not.

A part of my brain would prefer to only have monthly stats. On feb 28th you get an email saying: "in february you did $X!", and that's all that matters.

Another part of my brain wants a perpetual wifi connection to the adsense stats, with a "ping" to my brain everytime someone clicks my ads.

It must be left/right hemispheres, or whatever...
