Hi Everyone,

Ive been a lurker for awhile now, time to come out of my shell. :)

Im hoping someone can answer this, how long does the Google Adsense spider take to spider new pages?

I added adsense to a site 3 days ago & it is still showing the public service ads. I dont recall it taking this long on any other ocassion...

Has anyone had to wait this long or longer? Should I email Google?

TIA!

-Amber

Hi Ambar,

From what I can see, the Adsense spider takes from 5 minutes to a couple of days to spider a page.

If after three days you are still showing PSAs, I would suggest that you check the content of your page and see if the content is not sufficiently targeted to call the ads.

If you want to drop me a sticky with your URL, I will see what I can suggest.

Aye. It took a while at the start, but now it's about one to two hours for me to pick up key words.

Thank you both for your input :)

I had a further look & I think I know where I went wrong (*doh*).

I have a very large site that has many individual pages, some of which have never been seen by humans as they are not indexed as of yet. I didnt click thru every one of my thousands of pages after adding AdSense to the template. It appears as if its showing on some of the pages (the popular ones that people are visiting); but not the ones that have yet to see the light of day. I guess that they will need to first be visited in order to triger the spider to come.

This sounds about right, correct?

Yep, until a human visits the page, no Google bot.

i have a 'how long' question as well. i added adsense code to a brand new site over 12 hours ago but still it shows public service ads. anyone know if google has a problem spidering sites hosted by 1and1.com?

It seems to be having a little slow down. Normally the ads are spot on within 30 minutes for me but I added 12 pages to my site 13 hours ago and they still show the PSA's.

I couldn't understand how it workd - I signed up today and my ads immediately showed relevancy. I presume they are basing it on my pages cached on Google?
