I have been lurking for a while in these forums, reading all the amazing info, and after six months of hard work I have finally hit the $45/day mark. This might not seem like much for most of you, but for me it is a lot. I am currently 17-years old, Mexican, and I am making more money than many people with full-time jobs. I have to thank Google and all of you for the help since I will be probably moving out of my house when I reach 18... thank you Google.
As a side note, here the minimal wage is just like $5/day so making almost ten times as much makes me feel good. I hope I can reach the $100/day mark when I am 18 so I don't have to depend on my family anymore.
This whole letter is just to thank all of you.
For the newbies, this is what I have learnt through hard experience:
-If you can't write well enough, learn.
-Go for the gold - never make websites based around "free" topics such as humor, jokes, etc. Focus in a niche and build a website around it even if it takes you months.
-One big website with subdomains is far better than having dozens of smaller websites. Nevertheless, having small websites with a big website is far better to "diversify".
-When you are working, WORK. Close your MSN messenger, lock your door, turn the music off, write many articles and make them GOOD.
-At first, I focused in making websites with HUNDREDS of pages. I later, after much work, realized that it is far better to make an USEFUl website even if it takes more time to develop. A good design helps, but simplicity is far better.
-Set yourself goals. For example, I have set myself the goal of reaching $100/day by the time I am 18. If you set yourself goals and work as hard as you can to reach them, then it will be much easier.
-The most important rule is to have fun. I work daily (writing content, getting links, etc.) about 3 hours. I have decided to do this at night so I can have a normal teenager life during the day - I don't work during weekends. The rule of gold is that it is much better to work constantly for months than to try to do everything in just one weekend. I have tried this technique and it simply doesn't work since after many hours of sitting in front of a computer, I could go insane - I am quite sure it is the same with most of you. Take breaks, spend time with the family, etc. This is the far more important thing I have learnt in this last semester of my life.
I hope you have enjoyed my tips since they are what I have learnt after much work and dedication. I wish the best for all of you and I hope you all take advantage of this great opportunity, Google Adsense.
Feel free to correct me if you feel that anything I have suggested is wrong, I do enjoy reading suggestions.
Be sure not to rely solely on AdSense and free search engine traffic. I've learned this twice the hard way - last year and this month too..
It's possible that you're making $150/day or lots more for months and then suddenly you wake up and see that you've lost a good chunk of your SE traffic and that your profit is down to lets say $50/day.
These kind of drops can happen and when they occur there's not much you can do about it, except hoping that your income will return within a couple of weeks.
I am very touched by your story, not only your success but your kindness to stop by an offer thanks to those who have helped you. Like the others, I wish you every good success.
btw, my niece recently moved to your country from the US, so I have become more aware of the income level of many there.
Keep up the good work!
Your story sounds kind familiar to me. I'm 17, I live in Mexico and I'm starting with adsense. I'm using adsense on my blog earning just some pennies a day, but I'm working on bigger site that will be published soon.
I hope to reach the $50/day mark quickly with my new site just like you've done. I've gotta say that your story inspires me a lot. Earning 500 pesos/day is more than nice for teenagers like us, isn´t it? . I would really appreciate to hear more advices from you.
Greetings

it is likely that your high-quality sites will make money for a long time to come, even if adsense payouts tend to diminish. there are always ways to monetize targeted traffic which is exactly what high quality content attracts.
For me, $10/day was a very hard milestone to hit, especially consistently day to day, including weekdays and weekends. But getting beyond that is even tougher. you'll find $25/day and $50/day will make $10/a day look like a walk in the park.
I didn't really find that to be the case. For me, the hardest goal was to start my website - when Google picked it up, I went from $1 to $20 /day literally overnight. Now I have added a couple more sites getting me to $45. I think the key is to focus all your attention in one website (getting links, etc.) and then building others while you still build the former one, but that's just me.

What you talk about is more important, I think, over the long term. The main site provides a good anchor to your operations, and it will rise in PR, backlinks, etc., faster, which when you do get your other sites up, will help get those sites indexed/ranked fater.
I've seen a lot of people start several sites all at once, and they either give up, or it takes longer for them to get ranked, make money, etc., than if they had started with one main site.
I must say I'm a rather poor writer - I tend to write the same sentence many times before I find the right one and things like that, you know.
My question is: how to improve one's writing? I guess you can really benefit from just regular reading, but what about other methods?
Oh, and congrats for your $45 :)
I love hearing stories like this, because I really believe people can control their own future if they work hard.
You sound a lot like me-- I'm 19, and I started getting serious about web design when I was 16. I've only been with Adsense for about a year now.
My goal, too, is $100/day. Yesterday I made $73 (my record), and today looks like it could break that mark.
I agree with what you said about quality sites, too. I originally created my site for fun, no ads at all, and it's grown a ton since then.
I wish you luck and thanks for posting your story :D
I am, of course, no expert in writing; but after reading "normal forums" I can gladly say that I am in the upper half or better =).
My advice:
-As someone else suggested, read as much as you can. But don't just read 'anything', if you want to become a good writer, learn from a good writer.
-Write as much as you can.
