AdLinks showing in ad block

Really bad relevance.

I just had a shock.

My CTR has been falling steadily for the last few days - started Monday.

When I went to one of my sites today to check the ads with the preview tool I was surprised to see German AdLinks show up where I have 180 x 150 ad block. The problem with this is I'm in South America. AdLinks are my highest revenue source however not if they are showing German links in a SA country.

I seem to remember a previous post about this however I couldn't find it. It appears as though the system continues to have some glitches.

A couple of my pages on one of my sites were showing ads with Asian characters of all things. I was only able to fix that by getting some keywords into the URL. Adsense seems give a lot of weight to the URL when attempting to target ads.

It sounds like you've got two different things going on.

Adlinks in regular ad blocks and really bad targeting.

Here's the thread where Adlinks in regular adblocks was discussed recently [webmasterworld.com], apparently it's a test Google is running. That seems to be affecting selected websites. I suppose you could ask support to take your site off the list, if there is a "list".

I'd contact support, and send a screen shot, and see what they say about the targeting.

Thanks Ken.

The problem seems to have corrected itself with CTR rates today back to normal levels (so far) and the regular ads showing up in the ad block.

After an absolutely fabulous early January I was a little disappointed when the numbers tanked earlier this week however it will still be a record month by 30 - 40% so I can't really gripe about a glitch or two.
