For me, I've added the code to 3 new sites that are not yet listed in google search, so no impressions yet of course. I noticed a big decrease in my account's EPC and eCPM. Could that be related?
When do you start adding adsense code? and why?
I see no problem in adding Adsense to a new site as long as you do not visit your own site. Of course, I will not be earning much from this new site as the visitors to this site are coming from my other sites that are indexed by Google. It seems to me that Googlebot nowadays is very slow to index my new web sites. Yahoo! and MSN seem to be faster in indexing new web sites.
a) It takes time to build enough content and earn regular visitors trust and natural SE traffic.
b) During this time, ads are not generating enough earnings to justify their existence
c) Most importantly, I have observed other webmasters are less likely to link to your site if it has ads on it, call it envy, I don't know, some do, but most don't.
d) What has previously discussed here about account wide eCPM, and I am not ready to risk it.
Others do it differently from day one, to each his own method, that's just my way.
In fact, I practice this myself.
There are many types of content, some of which are:
* Adsense fluff
* Research, not for profit
* Non-commercial blog posts and tech tips
* Good site that someone put adsense on
Often they deal with the same matter, but the research and depth of #2 is vastly superior to what is often an article written by some webmaster who just picked a niche and started writing.
#3 can just be interesting, if brief.
#1 is the same article that was written for adsense before about another subject, and will be written again about yet another subject. Same tiresome keyword repetition, same lack of depth.
