Currently I am blocking ads in the following catalogs with a landing page of:

- search result
- list of sponsors
- directory
- prompt for an e-mail contact

What others to block?

I would specify this more to MLM and pyramid schemes.

Work and earn at home is not bad, but pyramid schemes and most MLM tend to have only very few rich, and much people looging time and money.

Be careful when using the block list - it may well reduce your income!

First off, why do you want to block sites? Are they sites that are in some way going to cause a negative impression of your site, and / or offend your visitors?

If that's the case then basically you block them as and when you see them. Don't use the preview tool to see what ads are showing, as that shows a sample set of ads and you may well be filling up your bock list with ads that would never be seen anyway. Obviously use it to check out the ads actually showing, but don't assume because a site is listed in the tool that the ad has / is / ever will be shown.

Now if you want to junk ads you think might be low payers, you are heavily into crystal ball territory! Guessing what ads pay, and what don't is pure lotttery and likely to reduce what you earn - not increase it.

However, intelligent blocking can work well. My strategy is quite simple. My block list is not large and easily managed. I go through it on a regular basis to weed out dead sites / booted advertisers.

I think that decent ads from real advertisers pays several dividends. 1, a quality site need quality ads. I don't want to see scrapers and other junk ads that I know my visitors aren't interested in. 2, visitors are more likely to come back to your site. This is most deffinitely the case - I use one of the trackers and this has been proven to be the case. 3, quality conversions from a quality site = better epc, and ultimately maximum $$ from your site.

I block the following:-

Ebay - ads for new and used dead fish do not give a good impression for any site, and take over valuable ad space that can be better used for real advertisers seling real products.

MFA's. Made For Adsense sites. I don't necessarily block every one of those either - mainly the persistent ones. A lot of them I typically see only once. There are other discussions as to what constitutes a MFA in the archive.

Bad targetting. Well, this is quite rare. Again, I don't want my block list cluttered up with sites that were shown as the odd blip. I will block consistently mistargetted ads though. My blog is showing some poorly targetted ads and I've reported this to adsense. In the mean time I've blocked the mistargetted ads.

I don't block competitors ads, or moderately mis-targetted ads.

got this answer today

Thank you for your email.

Currently, we don't offer the option to individually filter out specific
ads or types of ads. The only way to filter ads from your site is by
blocking all ads from that advertiser's site. Should we offer the option
to filter by type of ad in the future, we'll be sure to let you know.

For additional questions, we suggest you visit our AdSense Support site at

answer to your question on our site, please feel free to reply to this
