Did the adsense people lose much

I'm not sure what you ment by being hit. I have a content site with information. I also sell some information products (eBooks) on the same subject. Adsense adds revenue to my site. Of course, when someone clicks on Adsense they will leave my site and may not come back to buy the eBook. However, the effect is too small to measure. I can be absolutely sure that the revenue from Adsense is far more than the amount I might have lost (if any) from lost sales.

My main income, my "day job" is as a consultant. The information I give away makes people think (quite incorrectly ;-} perhaps) that I am smart and therefore more likely to hire me for my consulting service. But the Adsense is a significant additional source of revenue.

If I were a merchant with a site that sold stuff Adsense my adversly affect sales. However, I would expect that in most cases the Adsense would receive click from people who didn't find what they wanted to buy on the site.

Sorry we have been talking so much florida I just left that part out. I mean florida when I said "hit". When I say "I don't think that just putting adsense on your site will help you" I mean that if it does show that adsense sites seem to have done better after florida I don't think that it is because it is just because it has adsense on it. I could see somebody jumping to that conclusion.

Well, my site has thousands of pages targeting thousands of different terms, with thousands of diverse incoming links. Updates come and go but I never see a significant change in my rankings (which are generally pretty good). In my experience, it's the sites with a narrow focus and those that rely too much on a single optimization strategy that see the large swings.

After Florida, my Google referrals have been steady, possibly an increase of a couple of %. I haven't been running AdSense long and I doubt that was a factor for me.

Considering the feedback so far from around the board about Florida, the sites I have came through pretty much unscathed. I run AdSense only on a couple of them, but the others were largely unaffected regardless. No discernable difference in impact at all between the AdSense/non-AdSense sites but they're all informational sites. As for AdSense being the saviour of purely commercial sites I agree with you - I don't think it makes a bar of difference.

I run a information-only site. Between October and November I had a 20% increase in Google referrals, but between Florida and the standard time-of-year traffic increase, it's hard to tell what's really the cause.

If anything I think a lot of us benefitted from it when more Adwords advertisers came on board.

since i lost most of my traffic due to the florida fiasco, then yes, my adsense clicks went down. very few people at site - very few clicks. (which means google is also losing a lot of money from my site's lack of clicks)

I had a chance to go over the November log yesterday, and my visitors graph looks like a "bear market" in the last couple of weeks of November.

I think I lost between 100 to 200 visitors a day, which takes me back to what my traffic was a couple of months ago.

Not a good thing.

I don't see much difference from Florida, either in search results or in traffic. Perhaps some of my previously "hard to find" pages are getting more traffic, but my traffic patterns last week were significantly affected by Thanksgiving - I get most of my traffic on weekdays, and holiday weekends always see relatively low traffic.

On the whole, in terms of traffic and AdSense, my initial reaction is that Florida has been a good thing for my site.

My traffic had been relatively steady and then it began growing mysteriously in October. November was a record month for me, doubling to tripling my daily unique visitors and going from hovering around a gig of traffic to close to two. I only have adsense turned on over the weekends because I'm trying to spread my budget across the whole month. What I have always seen after having it on for a few days is a steady falloff of the traffic by Tuesday, and then it picks up again when I start the ads on Friday. The thing I can't figure out now is I'm getting the high numbers all the time now whether the ads are on or not.... Even higher with them running.
