Paper shredders vs Vending

Same ingredients, different payout results

Hi everyone.

I have this problem: one site on vending and one on paper shredders. I added original content to both (they are 2 months old) and did the exact same thing for SEO (links, article submission to ezines). I followed the exact same pattern for both, even ad placements are similar.

But the vending site gets almost no traffic, while the shredder site rules. I think the shredder site gets 5x times the traffic of the vending site. Monthly visitor searches, as shown by Overture, are similar, around 50k for the main keyword.

So here are my questions:
1. Why did shredders destroy vending machines as far as visitors go?
2. How can I "shock" my vending site from this annoying state of coma?

Thanks in advance ;)

There is obviously a bigger outcry for paper shredders(I have one right next to my office computer and home computer) than there ever will be for vending(niche market)--supply and demand.

This one is easy.

The vending site attracts ads for cheesy MLM schemes, and has an ever-more-saturated target audience.

The shredder site attracts ads for real products, and has a user base of MLM schemers wanting to cover their tracks. :)

MLM/contracted vending and amusement corporations irk the hell out of me. I used to supply video games to pubs and clubs for a living, and the major players are too big to care about one broken joystick or a dozen disappointed kids. Grr.

Seems to me that your average home user or office worker would be far more likely to find need of a paper shredder than a vending machine. Your target audience is much broader when you're talking about a machine that more people have a reason to buy for themselves. Vending machines are useful, but you'll get a thousand people using them for one person buying them, and only that one person will take the time to look up their features online.
Paper shredders, on the other hand, are something that people will search out and buy for themselves.
