Some adsense programmer's idea of humor?

Had a javascript error on my main index page today. Didn't catch it right away because Firefox compensated for it. Realized something was wrong when I looked at my stats later.

The page was coming up blank in IE and Netscape. Error solved in a moment, just a brain cramp on my part.

Now the ads on my site are all about javascript errors. "Find Javascript errors!" "Fix Javascript errors!"

The site's totally unrelated to programming of any sort and it's the first time I've seen ads on the site like that. I'm laughing; I'm sure the ads will revert to normal within a day or so. But pretty dang strange coincidence!

Yeah, sometimes really odd stuff happens. A couple months ago I loaded a modified page only to see the url parsed in the Adlinks box.

I couldn't find an error on the page, but I had to rebuild it from scratch to get rid of the problem.

This is clearly AdSense's attempt to cull the herd.

They're hoping that you click on your own ads to try to figure out why you have a javascript error, so that they can kick you out of the program.

I dunno about thaaat, RonS. But sometimes creepy/weird stuff like that just happens. Reminds me of when I got a ton of Kanye West and hip hop related ads on my site (entirely unrelated to music). The only connection was that I happened to be listening to Kanye at the time :o

Maybe it's a new program that telephathically picks up on what you're thinking, and shows similar ads. It's actually a pretty good idea!

I don't know about creepy/weird/coincidence. Maybe the explanation is simpler: Mediabot got a js error message and read that as the new content of your page and is trying to serve appropriate ads for that content.

Seems the most logical explanation. However, you would have thunk that an algorythm that they have had running since the start of Adsense that has had many engineers constantly honing it to perfection, and lots of money spent on it could tell the difference between content and generic error messages!

Or am I expecting too much?

Had something similar happen to me years ago. It turned out that a virus had targeted my inetpub/wwwroot/ directory's default.asp page and placed some malicious code at the bottom of that page. Each time the page loaded it displayed some error message.
