Is it possible to have good eCPM high traffic sites?

Let's say minimum 1 million page impressions per month

We were discussing last night the generally accepted view that the more the page impressions then the lower the eCPM.

Is this actually true? Therefore per month:

100,000 impressions at USD 10.00 = 1,000.00
1,000,000 at USD 10.00 = 10,000.00
10,000,000 at USD 10.00 = 100,000.00

It's your decision if you want to mention your sector however are there any, is there even one, site(s) which has a minimum one million Adsense impressions with a USD10.00+ eCPM?

I'm sure there must be and this obviously puts any respondee in the UPS club therefore are you solo, partnership, corporate?

This is purely for curiosity's sake to see what may, or may not, be achievable.

Me? I make the the eCPM but not the traffic...yet!

No, that did not happen in our case. Several months ago, the number of unique visitors a day doubled on our site. eCPM went even slightly up (hence, earnings doubled).

(We get nearly 1,000,000 ad unit impressions per month. Due to the TOS, I can't disclose the exact eCPM, but on average it's around the figure you asked about.)

I'm not going to tell you what I earn or what my eCPM is, but I can tell you that both my traffic and eCPM are growing. (And I've got fairly high traffic for a niche site in my sector; I'll probably hit 1.5 million page views this month.)

When eCPM declines as traffic grows, it may be for any number of reasons, such as:

1) User familiarity with the ads, especially if the same ads appear regularly. (This could easily be a problem on a community site.)

2) A lack of editorial diversity and/or a shortage of advertisers. (A site might "max out" its allocation of ads for a limited range of keyphrases; this would be less likely to happen if the site covered a wider range of keyphrases.)

Our traffic shot up after we recovered from Jagger, and our eCPM increased as well (very significant jump -- around 200%). And it is holding up very well.

So the "generally accepted view that the more the page impressions then the lower the eCPM" did not hold true for us.

single site
Adsense
roughly 1,000,000 impressions per month slightly higher ecpm than $10.00

YPN
Single Site
30,000 impressions per month
ecpm slightly under $8.00

Affiliate Marketting
Other sites with no contextual advertising
40,000 impressions per month
ecpm closer to $5.00

but as many on this board say diversification is the key to long term success and not having all eggs in 1 basket allows me sleep better at night even though I consider I am not fully maximising all revenue opportunities
solo but subcontract work out ( roughly 20% income goes out in subcontract work )

That's interesting since our traffic is growing steadily, except for expected downturn in December, and the eCPM is actually increasing too and we wondered at what point we may possibly expect the eCPM to level off or decline.

Obviously it depends on the niche and, as EFV says:

A lack of editorial diversity and/or a shortage of advertisers. (A site might "max out" its allocation of ads for a limited range of keyphrases;
