I have been using adsense for a while now. Just purchased a new domain and what is a proper way to find out if the old owner has done anything "bad" with it. I just found out that it was owned in 2001 (had no idea before). Now, if someday I put adsense on it and adsense has it "flagged" - what then. Should I email support and give them url asking them to check it out?

Also, funny thing. Just yesterday I put a text link on a different site pointing to new domain and today google has it already indexed (search for domain.com). This is kind of weird for it to show up this quick. Anybody else had this kind of experience?

2001? The AdSense program was not around back then. You should be fine. Check the internet Archive and see what (if anything) the domain was used for. Sometimes people just purchase domain names and end up not doing anything with them.

send an email to google to find out and get green signal before u fall.

even if it was flagged, once informed, they will clear all flags and show it as a fresh domain.

also, does this domain have any occurance in google or any other search engine? any other traces?

Thank you Sobriquet. I checked yesterday in google and when searching domain.com it wasn't coming up. Today it is coming up. I also found it using wayback machine in 2001 (not much info there, just couple of pages and few pictures). Looks like it was a ligit site.

Anyway, thank you for the info. When the site is ready I'll email adsense for the green light.

Contacting AdSense isn't needed. Based on what miedmark says the domain xpired in 2001 or 2002, thus it's impossible that it got red flagged by AdSense.

If the domain was in use in 2001, it's possible it was still in use in 2002 and 2003 (when adsense started), even if the wayback machine didn't show any data.

Why take any chances - email to adsense will be sent.

I purchased a domain which got all of nowhere with Google for several months. Then for some reason a page showed up in Google which, although several years old, had not previously appeared in any major search engine. The page detailed the list of URL's a particular individual was selling, and revealed that they were all parked with a porno affiliate doorway page. Fortunately when I contacted Google and explained the situation, although they were non-committal in their actual response to my inquiry - the "we'll refer it to the appropriate person" reply - the site immediately started to appear in the SERPs.

So there are other issues than "Was it previously banned from AdSense?"
