Quick question:

Anyone know offhand where on Google's site it states you can display adsense on search results?

How should this work?

I have also an internal search engine, but the problems are:

local search engine call by GET

Each query produces an unique URL like

[my-site...] small widget tests

But most of the queries will occure the first time, so AdSense has no ads for it.

Next problems are queries with 0 results. This would violate the TOS to show ads only on pages with content.

local search engine call by POST

All calls to the local search engine have the same URL

How should AdSense bring relevant ads to this page?

After this problem study, I decided to replace my local search engine by Google. Since they offer now also site search, it's an easy possibility

I use an internal search engine and query the script with POST so that the url's have the keywords
[mysite.com...]

I store all the keywords searched in a database and I have created a page with links to all the search queries - as per number of times they are searched. So if you click on one of the links the search query is run. I have linked this to the footer of the page with the title "Top queries" - this makes sure that the pages are all indexed by adsense and whenever one of those search queries is searched for - the page is ready with adsense ads.

to all:

as you see, no problem to show ads in your own build search engine...

Now you have to build, google ;) call it hoolahoop and be the next search engine.. If you don't do it, you never gonna be a HoolahoopGuy

roycerus:

kinda scary what you do out there, because Google ban yahoo searchqueries from there SERPS..

With this kind of trick you can generate thousands of pages.

its only my thougt, becarefull with that kind of knowlegde ;)

Is it 'etical' to do links to your own search engine?

You can see it otherwise; Google can talk with your search engine.. and see, your page is coming alive!

How many thousand queries?

My total referer statistic from April 1997 to December 2005 contains

1.140.323

different search queries leading visitors to one of my pages.

In my time as a internet promotion specialist, I made often the following show:

JT: JetteroHeller
PC: Possible new Client

JH: Think on an important word in Your profession
PC: XYZ

I type XYZ into the statistic software.

JH: How many different queries can You imagine with XYZ?
PC: Maybe 10 different queries
JH: I have some pages where this important word from Your profession is mentioned. I have here a search query statistic with 25.432 different search queries all around the word XYZ

567 asked "blue XYZ"
312 asked "luxury XYZ"
279 asked "luxus XYZ"
265 asked "handcrafted XYZ"
and there are stil 25.428 more queries

Most possible clients had been total overwhelmed by the immense number of different queries.

Thousands?!?

You know nothing about the German language.

There are konjugations of adjectives.
There are a immense amount of combinable nouns
There are special characters like ÄÖÜß

In my case, this trick would make just over 1 million pages

> [google.com ]

This refers to Google's search results - not using your own engine.

play_bach... i disagree - i think that when you consider the context the faq page is actually referring to adsense ads placed on homebrew search results pages. the use of "alternatively" at the beginning of the next sentence is the key.

Hi, I did confirm this with Google and was in touch with a representative and have the emails with me. The thing is that as long as the content is from your own site there are no issues.
And no these search result pages don't really get high rankings. I guess it's pretty easy to detect that these are search queries and not actual pages - unless I mod-rewrite the url to make them look like pages. But even then it probably won't rank higher than the actualy content on the website.
