Just though I'd mention my little experiment of the last month or so.

My main site does very well in serps and adsense because it's "The" authority site in my niche, and does well because of content. My blog that is associated is also gaining a good position in the serps - again because of content.

I recently decided to dabble with "Off the peg" websites, and purchased a bunch off of a guy on Ebay. he wanted £35 for them, but I put in a best offer of £15 which was accepted. I then set about turning the content of one of them into a proper website, got it hosted, advertised via adwords and put ads on it.

I know it's early days yet, but so far the results have been a loss. Unlike the blog - that took off quite easily.

So the moral of the story is that content is deffinitely king!

That's something that can't be repeated enough - too many people spend hours and hours of looking for some kind of "gimmick" to boost their earnings/rankings, or they spend lots of money on how-to books or seminars (whether they are e-books or whatever).

If they took all of the time spent searching for The One True Hint To Making It Big With AdSense, and instead spent it writing articles, and if they took all of the money spent on books and seminars and paid some people to write solid articles for them, over they long run they will be much better off.
