How to make the most of misguided traffic?

Hello!

I run a very niche website. I recently checked my logs and noticed that I get many hits on a random page. After a little research, I found that certain page elements (text, headings, title), which are within my niche, are also acronyms within another niche. My site is ranking #2 for the keyword and is getting alot of the other niche's traffic.

Any ideas how I can capitalize on this? Visitors come to the page and leave when they realize there is nothing for them. Can I give them an AdSense way out within TOS?

Thanks!

If your page is called page_a.htm and speaks of niche B, change your page's name to page_b.htm and do a new page_a.htm speaking of the new niche.

You will have targeted ads, and adsense will give you a few cents :-)

I think if you change the page content you may loose the traffic you are getting. I would probably create another page with targeted content on the niche along with adsense and create an image with a link to the new page on the page which is receiving the misguided traffic. The image should be prominent and should probably look like a h1 link so that more people choose to click on the link.

Re: losing traffic.

Not necessarily, as he says some keywords overlap.

Anyway, some care should be placed on keeping some links from the main site to the old page with the new contents, to keep a good ranking.

But, unless it's a VERY hot niche, a single page might not be worth while :-(
