i wonder what the consensus regarding ads that spread over few ad blocks. do you filter them out? i did filter a couple of them earlier this month and i did see an improvment in the ecpm. filter them or not?

one ad that appears bigger and takes the entire ad block, i believe i did read somewhare that its a sign of site targeting and i should be better filter them off. am i correct?

You can't filter them unless you block all text ads. Some are targeted, some are simply Google's algorithm optimizing the space.

Yes, it could be "expanded ads." Not necessarily site targeting. Check the AdSense site for information on them.

imo expanded ads should pay us a branding fee for their huge fonts instead of cpc. comes close to image ads..

You're shooting yourself in the foot if you block expanded ads, IMO. If they are expanded ads, they are probably the best paying ads on your site! And if you block one, you may start seeing the next-best-paying in an expanded format.
