How long before a new site gets targeted ads?

I already have 2 sites with AdSense and this third one is a travel site. At the moment about 30% of the ads are to do with the destination in question, the rest are travel-related but targeted to other destinations not even mentioned on the site. Any idea how long before ads become more targeted?

When I started Adsense in April, it took about four to six weeks to get highly targeted ads. Today, when I upload a new set of pages it usually does not take that long (often the ads are spot-on within a few days).

I think that Adsense actually "learns" what works and what not and adjusts the targeting. Also, advertisers might be more aware of your site/topic and target your site specifically.

In short: It may take some time... :-)

Ah, having said that, I do occasionally get those completely off-topic ads that drive me crazy. It's just as if Adsense sometimes forgets about what it has learnt already...! *sigh*
