Don't tell them to click on adsense

Just tell them not to click elsewhere

Evidently folks have realized they don't have to ask people to click on their ads anymore. Instead they can tell them not to click on the others. I am increasingly seeing a new method of this. Have the traditional "Sponsored Links" spammy large rectangle pushing all the content down to near the fold with the next set of scraped content below with a heading of "Additional Links - These links have not been crawled to determine validity" or something of the sort. I found this and many others using Yahoo's new site explorer, which is great for finding this stuff.

I really don't understand what you are trying to say. Care to explain more?

Powdork is talking about MFA (ad blocks and no original content) and the labeling of those blocks and content.
Google is just asking for it really with their:
- Medium Rectangle(300 x 250)
- Square (250 x 250)
- Large Rectangle (336x280)
What do you expect those to be used for? Blending? Yeah right!

Sure, the TOS states that you must not draw undue attention to the ads or induce clicking in any way. So what happens? Instead of directly getting you to click on the ads they are now doing it indirectly by making the other links seem unsavory.

By chance Hobbs, was this a reference to Nancy Regan and the famous dope bust in NY where all the drugs seized were in brown shopping bags with the slogan "Just Say No to Drugs" on them? ;-)

It's a good point. There are any number of ways you could do this, though--not just with statements like that. Make all the other text on the page hard to read, for example, by setting it in a pale color, or by making it really tiny, or both.....

But I think if AdSense wanted to, they could still call this "calling undue attention," because you are emphasizing the AdSense content over the other content.

Again, all really totally preventable stuff. If they would screen all (or even a lot more of the) sites allowed into the content publisher network. This would go a million miles toward increasing advertiser confidence in the content network, IMO.

Perhaps moreso than anything else they could do to gain advertiser confidence.
