Active URL Channels vs. Custom URL Channels

Why are the earnings combined when the clicks are different?

Hello, I recently set-up an AdSense account on an informational site related to the home with a purpose of driving traffic to a client's ecommerce site (and making a little money). Anyways, when I was setting it up, I inadvertently set-up an Active URL Channel named redandbluewidgets.com and a Custom URL Channel named Red and Blue Widgets (they both are for the same site).

The impressions, clicks, CTR, and CPM are all different. As a result, the earnings are also a little different. During the first month, the earnings were being calculated separately so I was getting paid for what each channel was making. Over the last month, the earnings are being combined or recorded together so that I am only getting paid for one channel plus whatever the difference is between the two channels. Over the last week, the earnings are identical for the two channels even though the impressions, clicks, CTR, and CPM are all different.

I have looked through the help menu on Adsense and read about the two different types of channels, and I understand the difference (I think) but I still don't understand why the earnings were being paid separately in the beginning and now they are being combined. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Or can any please help clarify what is going on and what I should do? Should I contact AdSense?

Thank you in advance for any advice. : ) I have learned so much from WebmasterWorld.
