Promoting already advertised content

I'm promoting a product in an affiliate program on my site, but now I noticed that the same product is being advertised by another affiliate via AdWords, and they're of course showing up on the same page.

Is this allowed? The URL is different of course as we have different affiliate codes but the same product and site.

AdSense does allow you to have text affiliate ads. As long as you do not try and mimic the AdSense ads you should be fine.

Why on earth would you allow another affiliate ad to run on adsense for the same product you are promoting? Is the adsense click worth more than your commission on an af sale?

Block the AdWords ad and allow your own to be seen without the low priced competition. That's what I would do.

Calculate the CPC of click throughs to your affiliate link. If 100 people click through your affilaite link and only 1 person buys an item for $10.00 commission, each click is worth .10 cents to you. If your estimated CPC of the adsense ad click is higher than that...well you know which one goes!

I would stick that ad in a channel and give it some time. Then see which makes you more AS with either CPM and / or CPC or your affiliate sales.

Go with whatever makes more, doesn't really matter who is doing the advertising in such a case.
