How does Adsense determine the content on our pages? Is it through the javascript or through a bot that visits the site and then puts up ads.
Does it use the host IP to determine the connection with the publisher ID? I ask that because if one owns multiple websites with one publisher ID being used, someone Adsense must know which site it is working with.
Now I've done tests on web pages on my development machine and it looks like adsense doesn't rely upon a bot visiting the website at all. If thats the case, it seems very random on how it goes picking apart the web page. If I place an ad at the top of the page, it tends to look in a geographic zone closest to the ad but doesn't even look further down. This kind of tells me that locality of the ad and what is surrounding it plays a key role.
Any comments? Suggestions?
I can't swear it will work, but I've seen Jenstar suggest that if you change the ad block size on the page then the "Mediapartners" bot will re-spider the page. Probably changing the page temporarily and then changing it back would be fine. Otherwise it can take a while to retarget the page.
