Question about legality

Hello,

I was wondering whether something that I thought is legal or in breach of Google's adsense contract. I could not get any ads to display on my site. It is a php site and hence the problem, I've tried most "solutions" for php sites I even got a response from a google agent giving me a few tips but no matter what I did I could only get Public Service Ads to display on my site. So I've created another html file I've entered information which is relevant to my site, added the adsense code and I could then get proper ads just fine. So what I did next is to inlcude this html page on my php main site using iframes. Is that ok? I have read the contract but i could not get any relevant information about it. I even emailed google but strangely enough I got no response. Now lets say that what I am doing is ok. what if I put content on the htm page which is NOT relevant with my site. Will that be a breach of contract? Anyone?

Thank you for your time.

Sarpidon,
The ads in your hml will be relevant to your content inside the html, imho (need double checking) you can get away with it unless the content in the php violates the TOS (guns, porn ..)
and welcome to webmasterworld by the way.

thank you! I also found this in google's TOS

"If your page uses Frames, make sure that the code is pasted into the frame that contains your page's main content. We use this content to target ads"

so I guess it's allright.

My site is about football/soccer. On one of the html files that I've created only for showing ads the content is about computers, which has nothing to do with my site, the ads I get from that html file are about computers, I was wondering whether this is ok or not...

Obviously seeding the frame with content irrelevant to your site theme will get you kicked out. Also if you are creating iframes in which the ad block is visible to the user but the "content" is not, that is hidden text and will probably also land you in trouble. Figure out a non-deceptive way to do what you need to do.

If I understand you correctly URLs like index.php?lala=lala&lala=lala&bla=21 is the reason you're getting PSAs.

The answer is quite simple: mod_rewrite. Google it.

Frames is a hackish way of doing it and I can't imagine spending time doing manual keyword stuffing for every article. Plus you'll get booted from adsense.

thank you for your replies. I know about mod_rewrite, problem is my hosting doesn't support it! I've asked them to install it but they refused... don't know what to do. I've already paid for 2 years....

Whatever you do: take the TOS violating code off the page as fast as you can.

Then maybe you should think about switching hosts, or go with static html for the whole site.

I've already did, just seconds after I read your post. Thank you. Do you think I might still get banned or do I stand a chance? The thing is that after i did this iframe "solution" my profits went up by almost 300%. I am sure they noticed... (around USD40 per day) I have to find a way, I cannot do a static html site... I have a portal, I will try and reason with my host. Any ideas why on earth they don't want to have mod_rewrite on their servers? Is there any other way to get rid of the long urls? Are you sure the long urls is the problem? There is something really strange going on. When I use the google adsense preview tool for IE on my site BEFORE I add any adsense code on my pages I get all the relevent ads to show. However AFTER i add the adsense code I get none! even with the preview tool... It doesn't make any sense.

I've just noticed that if I use an iframe with a htm file with NOTHING else but the adsense code AND the meta data of my site on the htm file I can get ads to display! So is this ok? there is no hidden text! so?

if you can earn (around USD40 per day) I think you can change the hosting.how ever higher the cost of a server may be,I think you can cover that in a week.

I know, I think this is what I am going to do. I've just received an email from my ISP saying that they will not put mod_rewrite up for me, so I will probably get another account on a different ISP that supports mod_rewrite and use the old one for storing my large files (my site has lot's of video files so I need the space and bandwidth).

thank you all for your replies

jomaxx:
>seeding the frame with content irrelevant to your site theme will get you kicked out

Personally I would prefer not to use frames, also I would prefer to keep one web site per topic, but this a matter of taste and has nothing to do with TOS.

Hiding content is a big nono, stuffing keywords too, but having frames as well as 2 or more themes in the same site is another, jomaxx please give us a quote or link to confirm your statement, just curious.
