I added Adsense on my site, but removed it after I saw that Google was advertising my competition. Why would Google advertise my competiton? If I'm selling lets say, tee-times and hotels in a certain city, then I could understand Google advertising flights, golf stores, golf lessons, but I don't want them to advertise other companies that offer tee-times and hotels. Thanks.

Hey, you need to read the information that Google provides--you can easily block your competitors by adding their URLs to a block list.

The reason your competition is showing up is that they bid on the keywords that would get them on your site--it's an automatic system.

That's just the way Google AdSense works. AdSense is about showing relevant ads.

If your site is about hotels in a certain city AdSense will do its best to offer the most relevant ads, and in this case the ads will be about hotels in that city.

But, you can still use AdSense and apply competitor filter in your account to avoid your competitor’s ads on your website. Also note Google’s ads are contextually served by automated system.
