Thinking of heading to China, have some questions.

I currently live in Canada,

I run alot of websites that display adsense, and am making a substantial amount each month from Adsense.

I am interested in moving to china, what problems would this present in receiving my Adsense checks?

I would continue to work on my websites from China, and would rely on my Adsense earnings for my income while I am there.

Would all I have to do is change my payment address in Google, and they would send the checks to me in china? I realize there would probably be a month or two wait for my payments.

The only potential problem would be if the sites you run are banned in China.

They would still however just sit around and continue to earn money, there would just be no updated content.

If the sites might cause a problem, you probably should sell them before moving. You might have some luck hiding the sites from them but you probably won't be able to work on them since they would be filtered. And don't even think about bypassing it with a proxy, that's just asking for trouble. I've heard of cases where they throw people in jail for operating "banned" sites. Be careful.

Of course these wouldn't apply to you if your sites are "clean" to their standards. ie. no rants on politics, no rants on government activity, no adult sites, etc.

There is only one thing need to mention:

Adsense does not allow you to change the country of your account. So you have to cancel your current account and reapply an Chinese account.

No other thing to worry about.
You can earn your online revenue in China as well. No one will interfere with you. You still receive your checks every month, though occasionaly they will get lost, but you will finally get them.

Don't believe those rumors that account from China will be easily banned. I believe Adsense treats account from China the same as those from other countries, provided that you adide by the TOS. My AS account has been will established since 2003, though the earning is lower than before, it really generates bucks.

Looks like you can't change the country in the payee info field.

Read somewhere that you have to close your account and reapply with your new adress.

Now is a good time to apply for EFT. Then you can just use your CC.

And it is true that you should avoid politic related topics. And you should check whether the ip address of your website has been banned by the government. If so, you should have to change to some other ip range.

I have heard that earnings with Adsense are less for people who register that live in china, i dont know if this is just a rumor though

Why not just do what was suggested above and apply for EFT payment and then use your ATM card and online banking for transfers etc.

I am not sure the laws in China for opening a bank account for foreigners. Might be something you would want to look into as well as the address change issue mentioned above.

Purely out of curiosity what appeals to you in moving to China?

The reason I want to go to china is that, I know someone there I want to visit. Plus I am interested in everything about it, the people, the culture, everything.

I actually am already signed up with EFT, I just didnt know if there would be any problems with relying on credit cards for everything, especially if I will be there for a while.

Well, living there on an adsense income is probably a smart move economically. Asian living expenses and western pay. That can become a hefty savings account pretty fast.

Why don't you just have the Direct Bank Payment setup with your bank account here in Canada and just get your payments wired to your Canadian bank. Then you can use your Interact debit card to withdraw the money. InterAct is accepted all over the world. Also with TD Canada Trust they have one of the best online account management tools. I personally never even have to ever visit a branch.

So if I were in China, I could just go to any bank that has a ATM machine, and withdraw money with my debit card from my canadian bank?
