Google Analytics [webmasterworld.com]: Put the javascript code on your pages and Google will give you a stats analysis that people are now paying hundreds/thousands for. And they'll charge you zilch.

Who wants to be the first turkey? :)

It's good that it's free but is this giving Google a bit too much of information? Is the giveaway purely out of the goodness of their heart... or do they have something very valuable to gain in return?

Does having Adsense on the site (with smartpricing) impact on your decision?

Hi all -

I just wanted to keep you updated on the Google Analytics problems you've been experiencing. Here is the official statement from the Analytics team:

The demand for Google analytics surpassed even our highest expectations and as a result some customers may temporarily experience report-update delays. All data continues to be collected and no data has been lost. We are currently adding resources to ensure high-quality service. We apologize for any inconvenience.

So in a nutshell, they're working as quickly as possible to fix the bugs. In the meantime, your stats will continue to be tracked.

Hi ASA,

Firstly: thanks for the update...

Then...

Please note:

(a) GA stats delays >> 1 day,

(b) big gaps in the middle of the stats shown,

(c) no indication of (when things settle down) how often we should expect to GA report updates.

So:

Q1) Will all that old/gap data be recovered too? Not the end of the world if not, but it would be nice to know.

Q2) What can we expect the update frequency to be when things settle down?

Q3) How long is it expected to take for things to settle down? A week?

Rgds

Note to moderators: As Google Analytics looks like being "big", and there is a lot to explore, and a lot of questions for webmasters to ask, perhaps it might require it's own WW category?

There is an overlap between Analytics, Adwords and Adsense (eg: how do I track the financial impact of campaigns and conversions in Adsense terms). But there is overlap between a lot of categories.
