Can I place Adsense on a portuguese language website?

Will they really check?

Do any of you know what happens if I place google adsense in a site with the majority of the content in Portuguese?
Do they really check where the clicks come from?
Thanks

Perhaps their mediatbot will report back to Google that the language is not recognized. If mediabot only recognizes the approved AdSense languages, it will not be able to properly target the pages for ads.

skuba i know of a site which is run by a friend of mine and he had put the Adsense code on all his pages, English being the main part of the site, but he went ahead and also put it on the German, French & Spanish Pages a few weeks before it was ok to put on the Adsense code on other language pages/Sites.

If most of your traffic arrives in on your English pages and then they have to click to get it into the Portuguese site then you might be ok.

What other languages is your site in?

Just how dependant are you on needing to run you Adsense code on these Portuguese pages or site?

Just how similar is Spanish & Portuguese anyway? thinking about what Jenstar said about their mediatbot reporting back to Google that the language is not recognized, if Spanish & Portuguese are similar (Forgive my ignorance here if they are not) then maybe it will not trip any switches.

Personally, I wouldn't do that. AdSense is far too valuable to take any risks.

One of my sites is an Open Directory mirror and I have a check in the code to make sure I invoke AdSense only on 5 supported languages (English, Spanish, etc).

For other languages, I include my 'alternate ads' page instead - I am using it to cross-promote my other sites and forums,
via randomizer.

A few extra lines of code bring peace of mind.

I accidentally uploaded a template page with a couple paragraphs of "Lorem ipsum..." as the "content", but it had the correct title and meta description and the mediabot gave it correctly targeted ads anyhow. It was only up for about 20 minutes, and probably didn't get many impressions, since it was on a new site, but I do have to admit my heart was pounding for a few minutes when I realized the mistake.
