For the company which I work for, we had a website relaunch yesterday afternoon. From a content perspective, not a great deal changed, but the website look became much slicker (we scrapped the old skeleton and put a newer, much nicer looking one in place.)

Our CTC had averaged in the 2.0-3.0% range; yesterday we posted 3.2%, but the relaunch didn't happen until late in the day.

Today? The clickthrugh rate is up sharply to 5.3%.

What is most surprising about this is that I actually scaled back the ad blocks on most pages from 3 to 2, including the all-important front page. It's hard to say if it's related to the launch of the new look of the site, but so far so good...

It's probably the redesign more than the smaller number of ads--people are paying more attention to the ads.

That's great to hear! If you're not using them already, I also recommend implementing channels to track the individual performance of different AdSense ad units. This will help you figure out what is working most effectively for your site so you can further optimize your AdSense account.
