Yesterday I removed adsense on 50% of my pages. Today same number of clicks and ctr and earnings per click triple.

My site is on one topic, therefore most of the adds are the same on each page. Does it make sense that by making more ads available even if they are not viewed, I am decreasing the value overall? Just does not make sense to me.

Well, if you have too many ads on your pages, then you are mixing up the high value with the low value. By lowering the number of ads on your pages, you are in effect weeding out the low paying ads.

It's a fine line, read some more on these forums on how to trial and optimise.

The earnings per click might be more, cuz you removed pages which weren't paying you as much and bringing down your EPC, but your total earnings would be less, because you removed pages that are no longer paying you anything, as opposed to adding at least a little revenue even though they brought down your average income per click.

Also, earnings can vary drastically by day, so you can't make a comparison from one day to another, but instead need to compare 2 seperate weeks to each other.

I only run 1 ad unit per page. So today there are pages without any ad units. And the epc triples. Which makes me want to put ad units back, but I know that if I do the epc will drop again. I have noticed this on numerous occasions. When I first started using adsense I placed 1 ad unit on 1 page. When I realized the value I obviously wanted to place ad units on every page. The more ad units/pages that I make available the less the value. Even though the ads are typically the same on each page.
