Many advertisers seem to just pick the global option, and their ads show worldwide. For product sales that can drop through the letter box then that's fine, but for services where you have to go to them it's pointless having the global option turned on. I can't imagine that people in Australia would travel to the US for the same service that's available locally!
I've long had a feeling based on click values at various times of day that adsense takes into account where the advertiser is, and where the visitor is and discounts accordingly. If it's true, then that makes one part of smart pricing that actually works!
Therefore I suspect that it this isn't really the case, and it isn't part of any Google algorythm - far too sensible. And most certainly not part of the dumb Random Pricing(tm) algorythm!
