I know I've thrown at least 10k pages at it, and ONLY to people who are not using it already. The placement is prime real estate. Are the buttons just that bad? Or is this deal just not for me.... or are the stats not working yet?
Will putting up firefox referral links increase your page impressions?
Referral impressions should be tracked seperately, c'mon google. Who knows though, maybe this will help the dumb pricing penalty if it is tied to high ctr/ecpm.
The jump in page impressions after adding referral buttons causes ctr and ecpm to go down, down down.
COmpletely agree. I have taken down the referral stats for firefox. I am very upset seeing low ctr and low cpm.

FF - Must be for G's personal reasons, to gather information about US, they could eventually have a good ballpark figure as to how many users worldwide use it, what they look at how long etc etc, this could potentialy create problems for our web sites in SERPS sometime in the future, why help bring that day closer? Micro$oft tried it already when people were selling "keywords" like hot cakes.
The Buttons - LOL who does their design work? they would pass as buttons from the start of the web, big n ugly, seriousley though, isnt that DRAWING attention to the ads themselves? opening you up for click attack AND telling the surfer that they are actually adverts that make YOU money leading to unnecessary closing of publisher accounts
Just found a nice piece of javascript called Explorer Destroyer (google it) that will help sell firefox..
I assume (perhaps wrongly) that this site got special permission to include wording like "If you don't already have an account, click this button to sign-up" and "Still need Firefox yourself? Grab it here."
Wouldn't using the Explorer Destroyer code on our own sites violate AdSense TOS? Visitors using IE would get this message: "Click the button on the right to download Firefox. It's free." A post on the Inside AdSense blog [adsense.blogspot.com] states that "as with AdSense for content, publishers should not use language encouraging clicks on your referral buttons (e.g., "Click here", "Visit these links", etc)."
Seems like a clear violation to me.
using the FF button:
2 days, 250,000 views, 7 clicks, 0 installs.
i was only showing the button to IE users and the button is very visible on the left nav area.
i've removed the button as of today.
Why not just buy Opera if thats the case?
Why otherwise would Google care what browser you are using, even more converting IE users to FF? Reduces microsofts massive market dominance in browsing is the only thing I can see. It might well be pushing it up hill as anyone who actually cares are probably not already using IE.
