What to do when Google breaks the Terms and Conditions

Adsense payment problem

nontrivial

I signed up for EFT about a month ago and quickly got my bank account verified.

At the end of October, I was notified in my Adsense interface that the EFT failed. I quickly called my bank and they assured me that no EFT was even attempted.

Next I contacted Adsense support and they have been "looking into it" for almost a week. The Adsense Rep has now said that they haven't heard back from their bank, and that the payment will probably be added to next month's payment.

According to the Terms and Conditions: "payments to You shall be sent by Google within approximately thirty (30) days after the end of each calendar month"

If in fact they cannot resolve the issue on their end, paying me 60 days after the end of the month, IMO, does not qualify for approximately 30 days.

If this was a small amount of money, I would be inclined to let it go, but this is a nontrivial amount.

Has anyone experienced this before, or does anyone have any suggestions?

I am guessing you signed up while it was still in beta. When it was out of beta, they started the bank account verification.

When it was still in beta, there was the disclaimer that you agreed to when using the beta EFT that said they could not guarantee the EFT would be successful, and if it wasn't they would sent payment the following payment cycle.

It could have been something as simple as a mistyped single digit when you signed up.

Thanks for your quick reply, Jenstar. No, as I mentioned, I did get the bank account verified, and I only signed up after EFT was out of beta.

There was no mistyped digit because the test payment successfully appeared in my bank account.

This is clearly some problem on their end, and they seem to just want me to wait it out - it certainly doesn't seem fair.

Do what any fashionable techo-weenie does these days and write about it on your blog. Hell, make a David and Goliath blog post out of it: "Big Google Tries To Screw Little Publisher"

Before choosing the nuclear option, I'd try being polite but persistent.

Talk to your bank and make sure that the problem is all Google's, and then keep pushing.

The EFT failed for me too. I had to wait for 30 additional days. And now I have to wait for 35 additional days more: the time my bank takes to make the money available to me because of the check instead of the EFT. And they charged me 29 USD too. Even if they said they wouldn't have done that. Anyway: the issue with me was that the EFT was too high to be sent to my country. It looks like I'm the only one in my country that chose EFT for such an amount. This is not bad, after all (and after I finally received the check :-)).

Nothing, unfortunately. I was reading yet another david vs. goliath blog post today somewhere, and it was the first thing that came to mind.

If it were me, I'd call my lawyer and have him start collection processes. But it's not me.
