I think you might be getting image ads mixed up with cost-per-thousand impression (CPM) ads. Not all image ads are CPM ads. There are cost-per-click (CPC) image ads, too. Likewise, sometimes CPM ads come in a text-based format.

i thought the font for the text ad is tooooo small.

i love image ad, but i feel there are little image ad in Google.
