Am I target of CPM ads?

How do I know that?

I have turned off image ads in my whole account.
But in some section of my sites has been appeared 2 or 3 ads that get the full space of a 250x250 square.
Are these targeted ads?

no it sounds like there were not enough advertisements for the content. If you refresh the page a time or 2 they just might fill back up again.

its usually a sign there isn't much content on the current page.

Actually, that sounds like the new "expanded" ad format. Google announced this fairly recently--that they would expand an ad to fill all of a block or part of it if their algo. predicted that would lead to better earnings.

Do a search for that in AdSense Support.

Showing only one ad in the whole block usualy results in higher CTR and lower conversions (because of lower traffic quality) resulting in lower CPC.

Actually it could be either a site targeted ad or the experimental expanded ad format.

If you were to put that one ad in its own channel, and providing the page gets a good amount of traffic without clicks on the ad, you might see an eCPM that has a value. Enough traffic without clicks on that ad will give you earnings. If someone does click on it, then it just makes site targeting harder to detect in the "text" mode. Remember that a site targeted ad can be both a text ad as well as an image ad.

You know what, since I'm also an adwords advertisers, I went and tried to create a ficticious site-targeted add.
To my surprise, my website was listed on 2nd place when I put my main keyword on it!
So, anybody could pick my site to put CPM ads?
Also, why? I mean, I didn't do anything, I don't remember a place where I allowed CPM ads to run in my site.

fischer, yes, anyone could pick your site for CPM. You don't opt in to CPM--AdSense (in effect) opts you in. Or to put it another way, if you're an AdSense publisher, you have to accept CPM ads. I think the only way you can avoid them is only using adblocks not used in the CPM program, or blocking specific advertisers.

Your experiment shows that your site is "working" for your keywords, though, so I'd find that encouraging, and not just a sign that it might get CPM ads at some point.
