Is $15-$22CPM and 4-5%CTR normal with adsense?

New client and trying to figure out what I should expect...

I signed up for Adsense earlier this month and have been acheiving around $10-$15CPM and about a 4-5% conversion on views to clicks. Is this standard, and should I expect to see this maintained? I signed up 2 weeks ago, and my running average is now around $15CPM on a 1500-2000U/IMP per day site.

Your figures could be normal.

It all depends on what type of site you have. Some site 'types' may have 1/2 those figures and some may have 5-10 times those figures.

For example - forums and photo galleries would often have a similar or somewhat lower figures.

Unique original content on something that has high valued products may have many times those numbers.

If you haven't optimized ad placement, # of ads per page, and ad size and color combinations then you may be table to double or triple those numbers.

For now I just threw the ads at the top of the site. I have a very loyal following I guess that support the site. Hopefully it stays like this :-)

If you don't want to play with placement size and color then thats ok... But then again, if you don't want to make money then why bother with advertising?

It's logical to ask the question if one has no prior experience with the AdSense program. There's really no such thing as "normal" but the numbers you quoted are respectable. Be prepared for wide swings that occur for no apparent reason. Welcome aboard.

No, absolutely not. It may be for a while, it may drop off to 10% of that in a month or it may double in six months. Don't expect anything, just be happy with what you have while you have it.

You may want to do some split testing (if you have the technical inclination) with regards to colors and placement to see which performs better. You can get some increases by experimenting, but you should probably let it go for a couple of months to at least establish more of a baseline.

If you have a "sticky" site, in terms of users, I'd expect your Adsense income to drop bit by bit over time as your users get used to the ads, with the largest drop off coming early in the process. As that happens, sometimes any change will result in another temporary increase, just because of the ad blindness/newness factor.

But really, don't do anything critical with your life expecting your Adsense income to stay the same over the long haul.

Actually, I think your figures are pretty goopd for a new site. You might consider putting a channel on both the top and bottom banners so that you can track how each performs. If the bottom one doesn't perform then I'd suggest dumping it as it will affect your overall CTR, and that *may* in part influence smart pricing's valuation of your clicks.

I'd also suggest putting banners on different pages to see where they work best for you. You may be surprised as to where banners will, and won't work. Don't forget to give each banner a channel so that you can work out how it's performing.

Nothing is normal in Adsense. It is completly random. They decide what you make. I have seen traffic go down and money go up and I have seen the opposite. Don't even try to make sense of it. It will fry your brain. As long as the checks keep getting bigger that is all I care about.

You are lucky. I have between 500-1000 impressions a day, but only %0.6 CTR and $0.50 eCPM. Disappointing.
