Foreign AdSense markets?

I'm thinking of expanding parts of my site into one or two foreign markets. Of the major languages, does anyone have any direct experience with how well the ads pay in that sector? Or any experience with how poorly they pay compared to English speaking country ads? For example: german, spanish, french, italian, etc.

good question - i don't know the answer, but in addition and closely related is "how well does adsense pay on international traffic that IS from a english language website --- but lies outside the USA, CA and Great Britain"?

Perhaps Australia and Germany would rank high on the list, but what of the major cities in the world that lie outside developed countries. I won't start naming them to avoid being targeted as prejuidiced aganist any group but here is my favorite list of large cities and I have to wonder about the possibilities [citypopulation.de...]

I think not only population is important.
More important is : do they heve money, interest in your stuff, internet (!), etc... It's a combination of a lot of things.
You'll never have any results on porc-'wurst' targetting a million-city in a Muslim country, targetting Berlin would be better...
Trying to sell BMW in a small country like Luxembourg will bring your more sales than in the biggest African country... etc...

I am in Germany and have one site with pages in six languages.

Compared by their cpm German, French, Italian and Dutch are doing better than English, Spanish is much worse.

Do you have internationally recognised products which would attract Adwords for that specific language?

Do you have the knowledge and can you create a page identifying a specific region's/country's demand for an indigenous product?

Get it right and you'll do ok in the following:

German - The first most spoken language in Europe - High Net usage
Italian - They like the Net - a lot
Spanish - Global
Portuguese - Global
French - Only if you really know what you're doing - I have found it to be a difficult market although the language is fairly well-used in many countries, especially Africa
Russian - Rapidly expanding markets in the Federation and former bloc countries - Net usage is expanding very rapidly
China - Make sure you have a good partner on board
Japan - Never tried it!
India - English is sufficient - Generally - Net usage increasing rapidly
